How do roofing sales reps get paid?
Roofing sales pay comes down to three questions: what percentage you earn, what number it is applied to, and whether anything is subtracted first.
The common structures
- Percent of profit: you earn a share of what the job made after materials, labor, dumpster and permits. Among companies that pay this way, 20 percent of profit is the most common rate, according to the JobNimbus Peak Performance report.
- Percent of contract: you earn a fixed slice of the sale price, regardless of how profitable the job was.
- 10/50/50: the company removes 10 percent first, often of the contract price, then splits what is left of the profit 50/50.
- Commission only: no base at all; you are paid only when jobs close and are collected.
Commission is usually paid when the job is complete and the money is collected, which on insurance jobs can be weeks after the roof goes on.
How Robust Roofing handles it
Robust Roofing pays its Project Managers a true 50/50 split of job profit with nothing taken off the top, not a 10/50/50, and there is no cap. Robust also pays a $75,000 per year base. Top performers can make upwards of $400,000 a year; that is top-performer potential, not typical pay. Robust provides HAAG certification and keeps a licensed Property and Casualty adjuster on staff, so new Project Managers learn documentation from an expert. Apply at chooserobust.com/careers.
