How roofing sales pay works in Georgia

Roofing Careers · Updated October 18, 2026

Short answer. Roofing sales pay is a share of each job, figured on profit or the contract, sometimes after an overhead cut, sometimes with a base. The best plan takes nothing off the top, pays a base and has no cap. Robust Roofing pays exactly that: a true 50/50 of job profit, no cap, and a $75,000 per year base.

The five plan types

PlanWhat you earnWatch for
True 50/50 of profitHalf of the full job profitConfirm nothing comes off first
10/50/50Half of profit after 10 percent comes off, often of the contractThe 10 is the expensive part
Lower percent of profitOften 20 percent, the most common rate (JobNimbus)What counts as profit
Percent of contractA fixed slice of the saleThe company keeps the margin outside your slice
Commission onlyNothing until jobs collectA slow first few months

Bases and draws

A base gives you income while jobs move through the claim and the build. A draw advances pay against commission; ask whether it is repaid and what happens if you leave. Always get the answer in writing.

Caps

Some plans lower the split at volume or cap bonuses. The best plans have no cap.

What public wage data says

Georgia's median annual wage was $48,170 for all occupations and $75,280 for sales representatives of services in May 2025 (BLS). A $75,000 per year base sits at that sales median before any split.

The plan this guide recommends

Robust Roofing pays its Project Managers a true 50/50 split of job profit with nothing taken off the top, not a 10/50/50, and there is no cap. Robust also pays a $75,000 per year base. Top performers can make upwards of $400,000 a year; that is top-performer potential, not typical pay. How the base and the split work together is explained in the interview.

Common questions

What is the best roofing commission structure?
A true split of job profit with nothing taken off the top, a base, and no cap. Robust Roofing pays a true 50/50 with a $75,000 per year base and no cap.
Is a 10/50/50 a good split?
It pays less than it sounds, because 10 percent, often of the contract price, comes off before the 50/50. A true 50/50 removes nothing first.
