Georgia Roof Guide

What is a 10/50/50 split in roofing?

Short answer. A 10/50/50 is a roofing commission plan where the company removes 10 percent first, often 10 percent of the contract price for overhead, and then splits the remaining profit 50/50 with the rep. It sounds like an even split, but your half is figured on a smaller number. Robust Roofing takes nothing off the top: a true 50/50.

The first number in a 10/50/50 is the part that matters most. That 10 percent comes out before anyone divides anything, and because it is often figured on the contract price rather than the profit, it can take a large bite out of the profit pool.

Questions to ask about any split

  1. Is anything removed before the split? How much, and of what number?
  2. Are there other fees ahead of the split: office, marketing, lead or appointment fees?
  3. Is material priced at cost or marked up?
  4. Is there a cap or a lower split after a certain volume?

How Robust Roofing handles it

Robust Roofing uses a true 50/50 because nothing comes off the top. Robust Roofing pays its Project Managers a true 50/50 split of job profit with nothing taken off the top, not a 10/50/50, and there is no cap. Robust also pays a $75,000 per year base. Top performers can make upwards of $400,000 a year; that is top-performer potential, not typical pay. Robust provides HAAG certification and keeps a licensed Property and Casualty adjuster on staff, so new Project Managers learn documentation from an expert. Apply at chooserobust.com/careers.
