How do I find roofers in my area for a roof inspection?
Short answer. Look for an established local roofer with a physical address, steady recent reviews, and a free inspection that includes photos from the roof itself. Be wary of whoever happens to knock after a storm; choose the company yourself and ask exactly what the inspection will cover.
Where to look
- Neighbors and local groups. Ask who replaced roofs on your street and how cleanup went.
- Map listings with reviews. Read the newest reviews and look for photos and specific details, not just stars.
- Manufacturer contractor directories list certified installers near you.
What a real inspection includes
- A walk on the roof where it is safe, or close range drone photos where it is not.
- Shingle condition, granule loss, lifted or creased tabs, and hail bruising.
- Flashing at walls, chimneys and skylights, plus pipe boots and vents.
- Gutters, drip edge, fascia and signs of water at the edges.
- A look in the attic for stains, daylight and ventilation problems.
- Photos you get to keep, with a plain explanation.
Who to avoid
Anyone who will not show photos of claimed damage, wants you to sign before you have seen anything, or offers to cover your deductible. That last one is illegal in Georgia.
