How do I find good roof repair in my area?
Short answer. Look for local roofers with a physical address, a long track record of reviews in your area, proof of insurance, and a willingness to inspect and photograph the problem before quoting. Ask neighbors who they used, get two or three opinions on anything bigger than a small repair, and avoid anyone pushing a contract or a deductible waiver at the door.
Where to look
- Neighbors who had recent work done, and neighborhood groups.
- Google reviews: read the newest and the negative ones, and look for repair jobs, not only replacements.
- Shingle manufacturer directories, which list contractors certified by that manufacturer.
- Friends in real estate, who see which roofers show up and finish.
A quick vetting checklist
- A local address and a phone number someone answers.
- Certificates of liability and workers compensation insurance.
- Years in business, and how long they have worked in your area.
- Willingness to do repairs, not just sell replacements.
- A written scope, price and warranty.
- Photos of the problem and of the finished repair.
Georgia rules that protect you
- Contractors cannot legally waive or rebate your insurance deductible.
- If a roofing contract depends on an insurance claim and the claim is denied, Georgia law lets you cancel; read the contract for the cancellation window.
- Ask for any license your city or county requires, along with insurance certificates.
