How much does gutter cleaning cost?
Short answer. Gutter cleaning is usually priced by linear foot or by house size and story count, so a one-story ranch costs the least and a tall house on a steep lot the most. Expect extra charges for heavy debris, clogged or underground downspouts, removing guards to clean underneath, and haul-off, so ask what is included before comparing prices.
Price drivers
- Footage and corners. More gutter and more ladder moves mean more time.
- Stories and slope. Second-story eaves and hillside lots, common in North Georgia, take longer and carry more risk.
- Debris load. A season of packed wet leaves and pine needles takes longer than dry, light leaves.
- Downspouts. Flushing downspouts should be included. Clearing a clogged elbow or an underground drain line often costs extra.
- Guards. Cleaning under snap-in screens or foam inserts means removing and reinstalling them.
- Haul-off and cleanup. A proper job bags and removes debris instead of leaving it in your beds.
What a thorough job includes
Every run cleared by hand, every downspout flushed and confirmed flowing, gutters rinsed, debris removed from the property, and a short report of problems such as loose hangers, leaking seams, soft fascia or standing water. Before and after photos are a good sign.
Ways to spend less over time
- Clean on schedule, late fall and spring, before debris turns to sludge.
- Ask about a two-visit annual plan; many cleaners discount repeat visits.
- Trim limbs that overhang the roof.
- Consider guards on the worst runs if you are paying for several cleanings a year.
Be wary of add-on offers to pressure wash the roof, which strips shingle granules. See our Georgia roof maintenance checklist and pine needles and leaves on the roof.
